Truth & Reconciliation Workshop
A Three-Hour Experiential Program
Meet Rose and Daniel.
They are sister and brother. They are imagined, but families like theirs are very real, and you will recognize the shape of their story.
Their kokum was taken to residential school when she was six. Their mother was taken in the Sixties Scoop. Rose and Daniel grew up in the system, and they were both on their own at eighteen. Daniel pleaded guilty on bad advice because he believed it would send him home. He was incarcerated for almost two years. Rose's children were taken because of poverty that was labelled neglect, and she is still fighting to bring them home.
Their story runs through the whole workshop.
Most of us were never taught the real history.
Not the full story. Not the human story.
This workshop doesn't just tell you what happened. It asks you to feel it — to carry it through your hands — and to sit with what it means that this is real. That it happened to real people. The effects are still moving through families and communities today.
At the start of the workshop, you are given a piece of paper. You draw seven things you love — one in each space. As history unfolds, spaces are torn away. One by one.
Language. Land. Family. Culture. Children. Identity.
Space 7 is never torn.
It is kept. Because something always survives. And reconciliation begins with understanding what that cost.
The workshop moves through the true history of colonization in Canada — residential schools, the Sixties Scoop, missing and murdered Indigenous women and girls, and more. Rose and Daniel's family lets you meet that history through people, not through a lecture.
It closes in a sharing circle — not to fix what was stirred, but to witness it. To let it be real. To be in the room together with what was learned.
This program is for complete beginners. For workplaces, schools, health authorities, and organizations that want to move beyond land acknowledgements and into something that actually lands.
It is delivered virtually by trained Kamamak facilitators who don't lecture and don't try to fix. They witness, and they hold the room so that every person in it feels safe, seen, and heard.
You don't need to know anything to walk into this workshop.
You just need to be willing to be present.
